Holy Crow..What a day!

I feel like this is the only type of post I ever write but when you have 5 kids.. everyday is a LONG day. It's like the war of all Mom wars and here I am putting on my suit of armor and stepping out into battle with a blindfold on.

It is so hot here, it's not even funny. Yesterday, our high was 103 degrees and when I checked the current temperature at 11:00 am it was already 98 degrees. I have to walk to take my son to Kindergarten and I also have a 4 year old to drag along. My 14 year old is out on break right now, which you'd think might be somewhat of a help but he's a teenager.. they don't really help.

I spent the morning coding a Wordpress blog for a friend.. this took more time than usual because the theme was a custom theme and wasn't "widget-aware" so I had to code everything by hand.

Then I had to take my 5 year old to school in this sweltering heat. More coding..which is now done by the way and I am moving on to more complicated and head-banging-on-keyboard projects.

Insert kids jumping off couches and on to siblings, cartoons, lunch, and lots of screaming HERE.

My ever so lovely husband is now home from work. My sister in-law just picked up my 7 year old for a nice long drive down to LA. They are going to watch a friend run in a marathon, go to the beach, and then convientently detouring through Disneyland. It's his birthday present, otherwise I wouldn't let him miss school.

Now we are deciding what to do about dinner.. I have to order groceries later tonight so there isn't much in the house. I'm thinking cheap, fast, not terribly hot, and cheap.

How was your day?

The Weekend and a Movie Review!

On Friday, my niece turned 2! My mom and I babysat that night for a little while because it was also my sister inlaws sister inlaw's 30th birthday. Are ya still with me?

So my mom picked up the girls from the party on her way home from work. Lexi was so wound up, my moms aid she talked the E-N-T-I-R-E way home! And I believe it too because as soon as I got in the car she was calling me "Fyfe!!!" so I'd look at her.. except I didn't respond unless she said *Auntie* Fyfe. So then she did and I'd say what and turn around and she'd say "Look at my tongue... aaaaahhhh" and then I'd do it back and she'd be in hysterics. We pretty much did this from my house all the way back to their house. I nearly peed my pants LOL.

On Saturday was Lexi's party. Oh boy wasn't that fun! It actually was very fun except the birthday girl was a little crabby. She was happy just full of attitude and I think with all the people and all the kids in and out of the house was a little much. Not to mention that she was up til 11 pm the night before. They rented a jump house and had that in the front yard so she was jumping alot. They also had a pinata.. no one got smacked in the head or anything. It was a good time.

My husband kicked me out of the house for the night.. so my mom and I went to the mall to try on clothes that we had no intention of buying lol. Except that if I did actually find something I liked and it was cheap enough then I might buy it. But unfortunetly I didn't, all I did find out is that I can't shop at Old Navy until I drop a few. But I did discover a store, Torrid, and I think I will be getting a few outfits from them.. they really have some cute stuff! I can finally be a size Zero!! It'll be the only time though *wink*

Then we grabbed a small salad in the food court while we waited for our movie to start, this is where the review comes into play.

We saw The Happening. WOW, what can I say.. except M. Night Shyamalan does it again! I really liked it, I like alot of his movies. He has a way of relaying the message without showing you everything. Makes you wonder. It really made me jump several times through out the movie.

Here's a trailer for you.

Totally off the wall..

But kinda funny, at least it is to me. The other night Dan and I were sitting here watching tv and all of a sudden an ad for Branson resorts comes on the tv. Hubby wasn't aware that Branson, MO was a pretty big resort hotspot and really neither did I until a few months ago when I discovered it and blogged about it. When I had heard about it before, I decided to research it so I looked it up in a search and found all sorts of cool stuff to do.

One thing in particular that caught my eye was the Silver Dollar City Theme Park. Now I know what you're probably thinking, once you've been to one theme park, you seen em all. That's normally what I think too, even though secretly I'm a big kid and I love theme parks! But this one seems a bit more interesting to me. It's "set to the tune of the 1880's Ozark culture". They've got rides, they've got demonstrating craftsmen, food (!), and loads of entertainment.

Well, there you have it.. I've sold myself! Hey honey! Guess where we're going this summer?!?!!

Feeling Snacky

This time of night is really not my favorite. It's late, I'm watching my favorite shows but yet I have this compulsion to eat. I'm not really hungry, I just cannot stop thinking about food!

I've battled with my weight for a really long time now. I thought at one point that I had it under control. I had lost a lot of weight healthfully and naturally and after the birth of my last baby I thought I would just do it again and everything would be great. Well, with all my best intentions it took me nearly 2 years to finally start seeing some results. I'm sure my metabolism was thrown for a loop. I had 3 babies in 3 years, breastfed them, lost the weight.. the cycle continues.

In the past I tried numerous things like weight loss pills, counting, watching my portions. I am just finding it so hard to not go nuts at bedtime. I'd love to be able to ignore it but I don't seem to be able to, in fact that is why I am here right now. Just something to keep my hands busy.

So, if you're a late night snacker like me.. how do you keep yourself from over doing it at night?

Right now, I'm going to try some fruit.

A Camping We will go…

My boys have been bugging me to go camping. I haven't been camping in ages. I really don't mind it, it's actually pretty fun even though I am electrically dependant. We haven't been on a camping trip in at least 7 years, the last time we tagged along with my inlaws we still lived in Reno and we only had 2 kids!

My mother in law is one serious camper let me tell you.. the woman is amazing. She's got every piece of camping gear known to man. Last time, I watched her make a pineapple upside down cake over a campfire. Now that is talent. Hopefully she'll plan another camping trip soon so the boys can get their camping fix.

A Couple of reviews….

First up.. Sally Hansen's Lavender SPA Wax Remover Kit.

I bought this the other night while I was at Target. It actually works very well. I've tried alot of at home hair remover kits and not alot of products hold my attention. Nair makes me break out, Veet stung the heck out of my sensitive skin, Nad's just made me sticky, but this actually ripped the hair out of my legs. It's been about a week and I am still smooth. I usually have to shave every other day. No bumps, no rashes, no hair! The box says results last up to 8 weeks.

Not only did it work, it smelled good, and it's purple!! It's also microwavable. I will definately buy this product again.

The Movie "27 Dresses". Absolutely adored it! It was hysterically written and had a very happy ending. Katherine Heigl was perfect in this and James Marsden was SO cute, I loved his character. Great date movie.. or night out with the girls. I saw it with my mom.

Saturday night, hubby and I went to Olive Garden for my birthday. The food was great, I had one of their new specials. The Lasanga Rollatini w/ Italian Sausage. Hmm yum!! It's kind of like a bunch of little cheese lasagna burritos with alfredo sauce lol. The only issue I had with our night out was where they sat us, kind of right in the middle of everythng and next to the kitchen. I would have much rather been back in a corner where it was quieter. But the food was good.

Tonight, My dad took me out for another birthday dinner. I am so disgustingly full right now, it's not even funny. We went to Cattlemen's in Livermore, California. I had the "Beef and Reef" special which was a sirloin steak with your choice of seafood on the side. So I chose the Shrimp Scampi, that was SO yummy. Great service too, our server's name was Lindsey.

For dessert, I had the Cowboy Cobbler, you know because you can't not have dessert with your birthday dinner. My dad hadn'e planned on having them sing to me and embarrass me to pieces but he happened to mention when I was ordering dessert, that it had been my birthday so when they brought it out they took it upon themselves to give me the royal treatment, which for a change I was totally not expecting so I was really startled, but it was quite funny!

I got out alot this weekend, it was crazy but it sure was fun!
